I began sorting my grandparents pictures about a year ago and started working on my family history. Since they met at Maybury, I was looking to find info on the sanatorium. As a child I heard the stories of going to Maybury every Sunday. Grandma (Elsie) traveled from Royal Oak to visit her baby Gerald who was at Maybury with TB. This would have been sometime in 1927. Grandpa (Robert) used to visit his young son Robert who was also there with TB. Grandpa lost his stepdaughter to TB. Her name was Mildred and she passed at Maybury. Both Robert and Elsie lost their spouses to TB. The good news is they found each other. Both little Gerald and Robert lived to adulthood and had families of their own. Robert and Elsie had two children together and I am one of the grandchildren. So, in a way, I am here because of Maybury.
