Its intresting to think of how many people have gone through the gates of Maybury one would think there would be many more stories, photos and communication. I very often wonder where all those people are and how they are doing, mainly all the kids from the day care in Garden City. The group of us who took an entire floor, played on the screened in patio which seemed like 1000 feet from the ground and spent what seemed like an eternity within those walls.
I look at my kids every day and think how lucky I was to have made it out of those gates standing, and to go on to what was at times an unproductive life and then on to a life I could be proud of. I have been married to my one and only wife for some 13 years. And now in my late 40's I can still recall good times and bad while I was there. I can remember the day I was left and the day I was picked up and parts in between and my mom asking me the day she took me home what I wanted for dinner. My wife wants to know how I can remember that and not a conversation we had 10 minutes ago. I simply state that the conversation we had was not life altering.
