Life after Maybury

Its intresting to think of how many people have gone through the gates of Maybury one would think there would be many more stories, photos and communication. I very often wonder where all those people are and how they are doing, mainly all the kids from the day care in Garden City. The group of us who took an entire floor, played on the screened in patio which seemed like 1000 feet from the ground and spent what seemed like an eternity within those walls.

I look at my kids every day and think how lucky I was to have made it out of those gates standing, and to go on to what was at times an unproductive life and then on to a life I could be proud of. I have been married to my one and only wife for some 13 years. And now in my late 40's I can still recall good times and bad while I was there. I can remember the day I was left and the day I was picked up and parts in between and my mom asking me the day she took me home what I wanted for dinner. My wife wants to know how I can remember that and not a conversation we had 10 minutes ago. I simply state that the conversation we had was not life altering.

Re: Life after Maybury

I hope over the years more of those patients will find this site and share their stories. I am always so happy to hear stories like yours. I have talked with many who choose not to share their stories because it is to painful to remember. I like to think of this as a place to heal among others that have shared the experience.

Re: Life after Maybury

Hi Karli and all, any luck on that book proposal I sent? I'm taking a writing class and learning the ins and outs of the writing/getting published world. So if it's gone, I guess I'll be writing another! I got to excited...

For me to continue my "life after Maybury", I need to finish the book and get it published. I want to include information about this site in the historical chapters. Is this OK?

Thank you so much and God Bless,

Gayle

Re: Life after Maybury

You may add info from this site. I do not know what stage your book is in but the friends of maybury are not part of this site. I think you were talking with them last on that, right? If so you may want to contact their site. I as before am happy to post excerpts from your book on here to help you along in your healing as I am not a publisher or have the means to help you in that way. Let me know what your thoughts on posting are.
